Good morning church family!
I hope your night was restful and that you are refreshed this morning. Let us continue to pray for those who have got this nasty cold going around.
As Pastor Mona was talking about what can prevent the light from shining, she shared a verse in Mark 4
“but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.”
Mark 4:19 NIV
Over the last few weeks, I have had a growing desire to pray more intentionally and study God’s word more intently and grow in my relationships.
As I haven been wanting to honour God with my time more and more, I knew that the issue was not just trying to find strategies to organize my time better.
It is first and foremost a heart issue.
We can waste so much time in a day, but why are we wasting time? why are we not intentional with our time? Why is it that the things we want to do we don’t do and the things we don’t want to do we do? As the apostle Paul would say.
What is the distraction? What is choking that time and dependence on God and His word and the Holy Spirit?
- The worries of this life
- The deceitfulness of wealth
- The desire for other things
Walking in the light means walking in honesty and transparency with God, ourselves and others.
Distractions come at times when we are not addressing :
We all love psalm 139 and how it speaks of God’s wonderful intention in creating us and knowing us deeply. And the very last verses come with that context in mind.
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalms 139:23-24 NIV
We can pray: “Since I know that you know me and love me, show me the content of my heart and lead me in the way that will please You.”
Prayer: Lord shine your light upon the areas of our hearts that are blocking your light and bringing distraction and help us to turn away from the things that cause us to walk in darkness. Amen

Thank you Erica!
God is so personal and intimate with us. He really loves us and cares about what's going on in our hearts. He wants to come and heal and mend our hearts so we can let our light shine and be good testimonies for Him. Lord, help me see you for who You really are and heal my heart of the places that need healing. â¤ï¸
