Good morning everyone!
Yesterday we heard part 5 of our sermon series "Walking in Victory" by Pastor Mona and boy was it ever a great message! God definitely spoke to many people through this sermon.
I like the illustration we were given in regards to our new lives in Christ! In John 11 we read about the resurrection of Lazarus. Lazarus was in the grave four days when Jesus arrived in Bethany. When Jesus spoke, Lazarus came forth alive, and as he came out of the tomb. Jesus said “The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”” As Pastor Mona shared Lazarus no longer belonged to the old dominion of death, for he was now alive. Jesus is telling us today that in Christ we no longer belong to the old corruption of sin; we are are a new creation in Christ. Jesus is telling us to take off the grave clothes!
The reality is we have not simply changed our minds. We have totally changed our citizenship. We belong to God’s “new creation” in Christ. And therefore, the ideas and desires of the old creation no longer should control our lives. We have a choice to make everyday when faced with opportunities to walk in the newness of life or go back to our old self life. The awesome reality is that we can choose to take off the old grave clothes and to put on Christ, where before we didn't even have the option.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, we too like Lazarus can choose to walk forward and take off those old clothes. You are who God says you are! ❤️
Have a blessed day!
