Committed to the Journey

Good morning Church Family!

Wow what a challenge Pastor Mona brought to us yesterday as she talked about commitment!

She said: "Many people have a commitment to God, but they are not fully committed to God."

People who are fully committed to God are dependent on Him. They trust in Him for deliverance, for guidance and for strength.

I love this scripture that she brought in Jeremiah that says:
Jeremiah 17:5-6
5 This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
    who draws strength from mere flesh
    and whose heart turns away from the Lord.
6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
    they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
    in a salt land where no one lives.

Notice how he says "whose heart turns away from the Lord". God doesn't want to be just your vending machine. He wants to have relationship with you, He wants you to know that you can trust Him in all matters of life. Even with your failures, even with your messes, even with the things that might seem insignificant.

Even the small things can matter in light of eternity because God can bring glory to Himself in the small things and the big things of your life.

God has invited you into a relationship with Him. You know, God doesn't need us to shine His glory but He choses us. He willingly partners with us so that we also can experience His glory in greater measures than just being spectators. God wants to act in and through your life.

Jeremiah 17:7-8
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
    that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
    and never fails to bear fruit.

We will go through heat and seasons of drought. But the bible promises that if we trust in the Lord and our confidence is in Him and not ourselves, we will not need to fear and our lives will bear fruit. That means that our character will grow and His peace and Joy will sustain us.

God bless you guys!
