Good morning!
I felt so encouraged by the sermon on Sunday. How we forget so quickly all that is ours in Christ Jesus. How quickly we forget the Father's love for us.
Pastor Mona said this:
Our focus is reading the Bible, not meeting with the Father; on doing the “right thing” rather than on living in the Father’s love.
We can get good at developing spiritual disciplines, just like any other disciplines that help structure our life. But God wants to bring more to your life than structure. He wants to bring himself to your life.
She also quoted Kyle Idleman who says:
If your spiritual practices are not leading you toward the Father’s heart, toward greater love, joy, and peace, they aren’t spiritual practices, they are merely religious rituals.
God has so much more for you than religious rituals. In the parable of the two sons, one came experienced a heart reset. He looked at the coldness of the world and remembered His Father's character. He remembered that even servants are well cared for in His Father's house. The eyes of his understanding were opened again.
The other brother continued to be blind to the riches and the presence of his father that he already had.
We can live in the father's house yet be disconnected from him.
This is my prayer for us as God's Holy people :
Ephesians 1: 15-17
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people
Lord, give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know you better. Enlighten the eyes of our heart so that we may know the hope to which you have called us so that we might know the riches of your glorious inheritance.
Amen
